We are so forgetful. Have you ever lost your keys? How about a wallet? Your car in a parking lot? I guess a better question is, “Who hasn’t?”

If we cannot be trusted to keep up with things so trivial in nature, why are we so adamant about about being able to keep up with our own salvation. If you cannot keep up with your keys, what makes you think that you can keep up with your salvation? So many religious people desperately want to maintain the security of their own salvation with works. And we/they/us/everybody fail so miserably everyday in doing the important things. You may have not blatantly dove headlong into obvious sin, but don’t start patting yourself on the back just yet. Those are sins of COmission.

What about sins of Omission? How many people have you told about Jesus? Have you spent time alone with God today? How well are you maintaining that relationship? Oh me! ... I feel the gravity of failure pulling me down, but God’s Word encourages me.

“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus,” (Romans 8:1, CSB)

I rest in knowing that Sovereign God is the author, holder, and keeper of my salvation. I find great peace in the rest of eternal security in Christ. It keeps me going when I stumble or fall. This is, by no means, an excuse to live as an unrepentant reprobate. It should keep you encouraged that you are not doing it by yourself. People who point to the eternal security of the believer as a justification to sin know absolutely nothing of salvation. People who point to the sin of the saints as a reason to dismiss belief in the eternal security of the believer know nothing of God’s grace. The love of God is not our excuse, it is our motivation. I am so glad that God keeps me secure in Christ. Thank you God for salvation.

Consider these Scriptures:

“and that is why I suffer these things. But I am not ashamed, because I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that he is able to guard what has been entrusted to me until that day.” (2 Timothy 1:12, CSB)

“keeping our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith. For the joy that lay before him, he endured the cross, despising the shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Hebrews 12:2, CSB)

“I am sure of this, that he who started a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 1:6, CSB)

“if we are faithless, he remains faithful, for he cannot deny himself.” (2 Timothy 2:13, CSB)
